Monthly Report – October 2024

Election 2024: Just a reminder that Early Voting starts on Saturday, October 26 through Sunday, November 3 in Troy at 500 Federal Street, Town of Brunswick Office Building and Schodack Town Hall.  Early Voting Polling locations will be open:  Sat & Sun 9-5; Mon & Wed 12-8; Tues, Thurs, Fri 9-5.

Youth: “Coats for Kids Campaign” – The annual Golf Fundraiser held in August at the Troy Country Club was once again a great success with 168 golfers attending. The legislature passed a resolution to purchase 1000 coats from B. Lodge in Albany, which will be distributed through several agencies to needy children. A big ‘Thank You’ goes to B. Lodge for their continued support of Rensselaer County youth.

The legislature also approved the Probation Department’s earmarked allocation of $ 35,000 of their GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) grant to the Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Region for community programming; in this case a Friday Teen Night to keep at risk youth of the streets and provide safe and structured activities.

Drug Dealer Registry: For the October 8, 2024 meeting the Minority Democratic legislators submitted a resolution (P/33) to repeal Local Law T-3 also known as the Drug Dealer Registry. The resolution failed, in committee, along party lines.
