Public Hearing May 2024 Economic Development Community Development Block Grants (CDBG)

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The Rensselaer County Legislature will hold a public hearing to discuss proposed applications to be submitted to the New York State Office of Homes & Community Renewal (HCR) for 2024 Economic Development Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) in accordance with 24 CFR 570.486 New York State’s Citizen Participation Plan and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make available to eligible local governments approximately $20 million for the 2024 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time.
The Public Hearing will be held in the Chambers of the Rensselaer County Legislature, located in the County Office Building, 99 Troy Road, East Greenbush, New York on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. to explain State regulations, review program activities and receive citizens’ comments on the program’s administration. All citizens are urged to attend and participate in the public hearing. Those requiring physical or lingual assistance to attend should contact (518) 270-2914.

Special sessions may also be convened at the request of the Chairperson.
The agenda for a regular session is available on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Members of the public have the opportunity to speak on issues contained in the agenda for one-half hour prior to the opening of the meeting.
We also have a Public Forum night; this is a great opportunity for the Public to make comments to the full Legislative Body. It is held on the Wednesday of the week preceding our regular monthly meeting in Chambers beginning at 6:00 p.m.
