District Six – City of Rensselaer
Scott has a long track record of public service and helping the residents in City of Rensselaer.
Scott was appointed to fill a vacancy in January 2025 to represent Legislative District #6, the City of Rensselaer. Scott is humbled for the opportunity to serve the residents of the City of Rensselaer.
Prior to this, Scott was elected as a member of the City of Rensselaer, Common Council in 2001 and served for 4 years as Councilperson for Ward 7. During that time Scott was known to be fair and honest representing, not just the residents of his ward, but all the residents of the city.
During his time on the City of Rensselaer Common Council Scott served as Chair of the Public Safety Committee ensuring policy and procedures were followed.
Scott currently serves as the Chair of the Rensselaer Housing Authority Board. This Board oversees the finances and policies of the Housing Authority and sits on the Finance Committee for this board ensuring proper financial management.
Scott enjoyed a long career as a Correctional Officer for the State of New York. During his 27 years he served as a Local Treasurer for Coxsackie Prison and was a union representative at the facility level for 25 years ensuring employees rights were being followed and contracts were adhered to properly.
Scott has been a resident of Rensselaer for over 30 years and presently resides in the city with his wife. Together they have 3 sons and 2 granddaughters
Scott has been active in youth sports in the city coaching Pop Warner football and all levels of Rensselaer Little League, from tee ball right through Majors. He was a volunteer Assistant Coach for Rensselaer Varsity Baseball. Scott was also instrumental in founding the Rensselaer Elementary Basketball Team which played in the CYO League.
As a new Rensselaer County Legislator, Scott will be focused on constituent services and keeping county costs at a minimum.
Scott brings honesty, experience, and energy to this position. Scott sits on the Health Committee.
