1947 – 2025

FAMILY HISTORY:
Samuel J. Garzone, Jr. was born on January 11, 1947 in Troy, New York.     He was the son of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Mosley) Grazone, and brother to: John, Rosanne, Karen, Michael and Patricia

EDUCATION/HISTORY:
Samuel attended School 2 from kindergarten to sixth grade, School 18 from seventh to eighth grade, finishing his education in 1966 from Troy High School.  In 1964, while still attending high school, Samuel enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and after graduation enlisted in the United States Navy in Troy, New York

Samuel began his journey by enlisting in the United States Reserves, where he attended bootcamp in the Great Lakes.  He then went on to enlist for active duty in Little Creek, Norfolk, Virginia. From there he was placed on the USS Raleigh LPD#1 for two years and 2 years on standby.  During his time in service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal

PERSONAL:
Samuel married his wife, Judith (Stevens) Garzone on June 19, 1971 at the St. Clare’s RC Church, in Colonie, New York.  Together they had three children: Samuel III, Donna and Steven; and three grandchildren: Rachel, Myah and Ellie

WORK EXPERIENCE:
Samuel was a salesman for American Steel and Aluminum in Albany for 30 years, where he then retired and went on to work for the Frear Park Municipal Golf Course for 16 years

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:
Outside of work, Samuel was a member and 3 time Commander of the Wynantskill American Legion Post #1489, a chapter member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 50 year member of the Watervliet-Colonie Elks Lodge #1500, and a 4th Degree member of the Our Lady of Victory’s Knights of Columbus and a life time member of the CRAB

Samuel loved playing golf, spending winters on Florida and spending time with his 3 grand-girls.  He was an avid and dedicated fan of the New York Giants and Yankees

Sadly, on June 3, 2025, Samuel passed away and was laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery

Special sessions may also be convened at the request of the Chairperson.

The agenda for a regular session is available on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Members of the public have the opportunity to speak on issues contained in the agenda for one-half hour prior to the opening of the meeting.

We also have a Public Forum night; this is a great opportunity for the Public to make comments to the full Legislative Body. It is held on the Wednesday of the week preceding our regular monthly meeting in Chambers beginning at 6:00 p.m.
