October 2024 Honor A Deceased Veteran – Michael A. DeBonis

Michael A. DeBonis
1950-2005

FAMILY HISTORY:
Michael A. DeBonis was born on September 7, 1950 in Troy, New York. He was the son of Michael and Josephine (Casale) DeBonis, and brother to Anna Marie, and the late Lorraine and Donnie.

EDUCATION:
 Michael grew up in Troy, New York and received his education through St. Mary’s School, and graduated from Troy High School and Hudson Valley Community College.

HISTORY:
In 1970, Michael enlisted in the United State Army in Troy, New York. He served during the Vietnam War receiving the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; 2 O/S Bars; Sharpshooter Badge Rifle M16; Expert Badge Hand Grenade.

PERSONAL:
Michael married his wife, Kathleen A. (Agostine) DeBonis on May 4, 1973 in Troy, New York. Together they had two children: The late Michael and Lindsay DeBonis; Brother-in-law to: Dominic Mancino, Mary Finelli, Fran Agostine and Jean Holmes; Survived by several nieces and nephews.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
After his Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1972, Michael continued his employment with the Watervliet Arsenal for over 20 years.

 

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed spending time hunting, darts, enjoyed playing a mean game of corks and the comradery with fellow members of CRAB Club, Emerald Club, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the American Legion.

Sadly, on March 22, 2005, Michael passed away.

The agenda for a regular session is available on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Members of the public have the opportunity to speak on issues contained in the agenda for one-half hour prior to the opening of the meeting.

We also have a Public Forum night; this is a great opportunity for the Public to make comments to the full Legislative Body. It is held on the Wednesday of the week preceding our regular monthly meeting in Chambers beginning at 6:00 p.m.
