Donald Ernest Yetman
1942-2020
FAMILY HISTORY:
Donald Ernest Yetman was born on November 1, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the son of the late Walter B. and Gladys (Lawrence) Yetman, and the brother of the late Francis and his identical twin, David Yetman.
EDUCATION:
Donald grew up in Little Compton, Rhode Island and received his education and graduated through the Our Lady of Victory Academy in Plattsburgh, New York then proceeded to North Carolina University and Cornell University where he majored in Business.
HISTORY:
In 1962, Donald enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for six years achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant, during which time he was stationed in Korea, Fort Benning, Georgia, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Fort Jackson, South Carolina where he graduated from the Army Administration School. He would later serve for 23 years with the National Guard as a First Sergeant. Within that time Donald received certification of having successfully completed the prescribed course of instruction for the Intelligence Analyst, U.S. Army Recruiting Command Certificate of Achievement and in September 21, 1989 received The State of New York Certificate of Service.
PERSONAL:
Donald married his wife, Ann Ellen (Bernier) on September 17, 1966 in Plattsburgh, New York at the Our Lady of Victory Church. Together they had three children: Robert, Aaron and Peter; three grandchildren: Ashlee, Eli and Calvin and several great grandchildren.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, Donald was employed by the United States Postal Service and was appointed postmaster of the East Chatham Post Office, Slingerlands Post Office and retired from the East Greenbush Post Office after 23 years and simultaneously retired from the National Guard after 23 years. In retirement, Don enjoyed driving school bus for East Greenbush and Willsboro, New York.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:
In his spare time, Donald enjoyed hunting, reading, watching football games, attending his son’s auto racing and grandchildren’s sports events.
Sadly, on May 2, 2020, Donald passed away and was laid to rest at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York.
Special sessions may also be convened at the request of the Chairperson.
The agenda for a regular session is available on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Members of the public have the opportunity to speak on issues contained in the agenda for one-half hour prior to the opening of the meeting.
We also have a Public Forum night; this is a great opportunity for the Public to make comments to the full Legislative Body. It is held on the Wednesday of the week preceding our regular monthly meeting in Chambers beginning at 6:00 p.m.
