Monthly Report – November 2022
Shop Local – December is ‘Shop Local Month’ in Rensselaer County. We encourage everyone to shop local and keep the sales tax revenue in Rensselaer County. Local vendors are the backbone of our community and depend on our support to remain in business. Plus, it may prevent any unnecessary tax increases for the residents of Rensselaer County. A “win win” for all! So, please continue to support our local vendors!
Van Rensselaer Manor – Several annual contracts were extended for 2023. Additionally, a resolution was unanimously approved and is authorizing the Manor to hire seven per diem registered nurses in order to alleviate staff shortages. These positions seem easier to fill and offer potential nurses more flexibility with their schedules.
Employment & Training – A renewal agreement to provide employment and training services to eligible, low income youth, through the ARC of Rensselaer County and the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO) was approved by the Legislature. This 100% federally funded program offers academic and occupational skill training, leadership development and community service learning, as well as summer employment for disadvantaged, disconnected youth and those with intellectual disabilities.
NEXT MEETING – Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in the Rensselaer County Chambers located on the 3rd floor of the Ned Pattison Government Center, 1600 7th Avenue, Troy.
