DESCRIPTION:Public Forum will be held in the Legislative Chambers located at 99 Troy Road\, East Greenbush\, NY 12061 . \nPublic Forum Speakers Pursuant to Rule No. 9 (D). Pursuant to Resolution P/51/02 the public may address the County Legislature regarding any subject matter at a special public forum to be held on the Wednesday of each month\, preceding the regular meeting\, in the Chambers of the Rensselaer County Legislature\, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  This Public Forum is open to all interested members of the public and the media.  The Chairperson of the Legislature has set the rules for Public Forum to: No more than three (3) persons shall be permitted to address the Legislature on the same subject and no person shall speak for more than five (5) minutes on such subject without the permission of the Chairperson.  The length of meeting will be determined by the number of people speaking. \nAll Speaker must be a resident of Rensselaer County! \nNo signs allowed in the chambers. \nNo yelling or argumentative behavior. \nPlease be respectful. \nIf you fail to follow these rules you will be asked to leave! \n  \nFor more information on the meeting\, please contact the office at 518-270-2880. \n  \n

SUMMARY:July 2026 Honor A Deceased Veteran- David Michael Bacon
DESCRIPTION:HONOR-A-DECEASED-VETERAN \nJuly 2026\nDavid Michael Bacon\n1946 – 1969 \nFAMILY HISTORY:\nDavid Michael Bacon was born on July 28\, 1946 in Troy\, New York.     He was the son of the late Floyd Earl and Frances (Fox) Bacon\, brother to: Ann\, William and Donald; and uncle to: Kimberly Bacon \nEDUCATION/HISTORY:\nDavid attended school at St. Augustine’s in the Lansingburgh school district throughout his school years \nOn May 19\, 1964 he enlisted in United States Navy in Albany\, New York.  David progressed on to the (RTC) Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes\, Illinois\, in the U.S. Navy’s only enlisted boot camp.  The intensive 9-week program transforms civilians into disciplined Sailors through rigorous physical training\, seamanship\, and mental conditioning \nDuring his enlistment\, David demonstrated the core values of the Navy – Honor\, Courage\, and Commitment – standing watch to protect our nation and ensuring the safety of his fellow citizens \nAfter (RTC)\, David was assigned to Naval Support Activity Danang in the United States Navy logistics support organization located in Danang\, South Vietnam\, active from March 1966 to September 1966 on the USS HULL \nTroops delivered supplies to the units in the field while they ran port operations.  Soon\, the fleet dispatched Naval Beach Group One Cargo Handling Battalions 1 and 2\, Nucleus Port Crew\, Mine Force\, Service Force\, Underwater Demolition Team\, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units to Danang. \nDuring this time the Navy took charge of the offloading\, storage and delivery of supplies common to all the allied forces.  Additional responsibilities included harbor defense and the transshipment of cargo to the smaller ports I the region \nDavid was honorably discharged on July 18\, 1967\, earning the Vietnam Service Medal\, Vietnam Campaign medal and the National defense Service Medal. \nDavid’s service to the United States Navy represents a chapter of selflessness\, discipline\, and duty that will forever be remembered and cherished by his family\, his friends\, and a grateful nation \nDavid gained employment through the Behr Manning in Watervliet\, New York\, where sadly his life was taken from him on his way to work \nThough he was taken from us on April 10\, 1969\, his legacy as a defender of freedom remains unblemished\, and his name is forever etched into the proud history of American veterans.  On this day\, we officially recognize and honor him \n  \n  \n
