DESCRIPTION:Public Forum will be held in the Legislative Chambers located at 99 Troy Road\, East Greenbush\, NY 12061 . \nPublic Forum Speakers Pursuant to Rule No. 9 (D). Pursuant to Resolution P/51/02 the public may address the County Legislature regarding any subject matter at a special public forum to be held on the Wednesday of each month\, preceding the regular meeting\, in the Chambers of the Rensselaer County Legislature\, beginning at 6:00 p.m.  This Public Forum is open to all interested members of the public and the media.  The Chairperson of the Legislature has set the rules for Public Forum to: No more than three (3) persons shall be permitted to address the Legislature on the same subject and no person shall speak for more than five (5) minutes on such subject without the permission of the Chairperson.  The length of meeting will be determined by the number of people speaking. \nAll Speaker must be a resident of Rensselaer County! \nNo signs allowed in the chambers. \nNo yelling or argumentative behavior. \nPlease be respectful. \nIf you fail to follow these rules you will be asked to leave! \n  \nFor more information on the meeting\, please contact the office at 518-270-2880. \n  \n

SUMMARY:June 2026 Honor A Deceased Veteran-  Charles Edward Veltman
DESCRIPTION:June 2026 \nCharles Edward Veltman\n1921 – 1997 \nFAMILY HISTORY:\nCharles Edward Veltman was born on November 14\, 1921 in Albany\, New York.     He was the son of the late Frederick and Ida (Neely) Veltman\, and brother to: George and Herbert Veltman \nEDUCATION/HISTORY:\nCharles attended school in Albany\, New York and later as an adult he resided in East Greenbush\, New York.   He Enlisted in the United States Army in Albany\, New York in 1944 \nCharles held the rank of Staff Sergeant with the AAF\, 66th Bombardment Squadron\, 44th Bombardment Group.  Charles military assignments were the Army Air Corps/Pilot\, Top Turret Gunner on B-29 and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon\, Good Conduct Medal\, and the Victory Ribbon \nPERSONAL:\nCharles married his wife\, Alice (Eckman) Veltman on June 1\, 1945 at the Greenbush Reformed Church in East Greenbush\, New York.  Together they had nine children: Ingrid\, Mark\, Dana\, Kevin\, Leslie\, Scott\, Lynn-Erin\, Brett and Cory; and Twelve grandchildren: Ethan\, Vale\, Erin\, Jeremy\, Adrian\, Vince\, Jim\, Jessica\, Martin\, Nathan\, Ryan and Morgan \nWORK EXPERIENCE:\nFrom 1943 to 1944 Charles worked with the American Meter Company as a bookkeeper.   After his Honorable Discharge from the United States Army on June 25\, 1946\, Charles returned to his employment with the American Meter Company until 1948 when Charles began employment with the Reportorial Correspondent Adjunct to Albany Legislation with the Cuyler News Agency.   Charles retired as comptroller in 1986 from the New York State Automobile Dealers Association \nCOMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nOutside of work\, Charles was a member and President of the Board of Education for the East Greenbush Central School District\, and would often submit articles for local newspaper such as the Greenbush Area News “GAN” under the pen-name of “John Charles George” and was a Columnist for the North Port Sun Herald in Florida \nCharles enjoyed photography\, fly fishing\, singing in church and community choirs\, and with Capital Community Voices\, he loved to write\, especially poetry and newspaper articles and played cello with the Albany Symphony Orchestra \nSadly\, on July 24\, 1997\, Charles passed away and was laid to rest at Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice\, Florida
