SUMMARY:September 2026 Honor A Deceased Veteran -  John Robert (Bobby) Campbell
DESCRIPTION:  \nJohn Robert (Bobby) Campbell\n1947 – 2025 \n \n  \n  \nFAMILY HISTORY:\nJohn Robert (Bobby) Campbell was born on December 29\, 1947 in Troy\, New York.     He was the son of the late John and Phoebe (Rifenburgh) Campbell\, and brother to: Barbara and Beverly \nEDUCATION/HISTORY:\nBobby was a 1966 graduate of the Hoosic Valley Central School District.  He spent the majority of his life in Johnsonville\, New York\, before moving to Middle Falls for the last 11 ½ of his life \nBobby proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War\, initially as a welder/mechanic and later as a cook and kitchen supervisor.  For his time in service Bobby was awarded the National Defense Service Medal\, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal \nPERSONAL:\nBobby married Cheri (Warren) Campbell\, but sadly divorced in 1992 remaining close friends throughout his life. Together they had two children: Sarah and Darrian \nWORK EXPERIENCE:\nIn 1969\, Bobby began a 45-year career at the Manning Paper Company.  Throughout his time there\, he witnessed numerous company name changes and held various roles within the mill\, eventually settling in the shipping department.  He was so dedicated that he could even be heard muttering order numbers in his sleep \nCOMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nIn April\, 1966\, Bobby joined the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Company (JVFC)\, where he would dedicate 35 years of active service.  After returning home from the service\, Bobby continued his service with the JVFC\, rising to the position of 1st Assistant Chief under Chief Bryan Warren.  His commitment culminated in his role as Fire Police; he was a familiar sight to many whenever he wasn’t working.  John could even be found working at the fire company’s food booth at the Schaghticoke Fair every Labor Day \nJohn love to collect antiques by going to yard sales\, estate auctions/sales\, or antique shows. Avid outdoorsman for many years\, a major John Deere enthusiast/collector\, he loved doing jigsaw puzzles.  Above all\, Bobby was a proud father\, brother and uncle.  He clipped newspaper articles on his nieces Christy and Meghan’s sports events\, smiling ear to ear as he did so \nSadly\, on April 26\, 2025\, John passed away and was laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery \n
