SUMMARY:September 2023 Honor A Deceased Veteran - John Edward Dingman
DESCRIPTION:HONOR-A-DECEASED-VETERAN\nSeptember 2023\nJohn Edward Dingman\n1932-2003 \n \nFAMILY HISTORY:\nJohn E. Dingman was born on September 2\, 1950 in Chatham\, New York. He was the son of Francis and Mildred (Tiffany) Dingman. He was the brother of Shirley\, Charles\, Lydia\, Eleanor and Frank. \nEDUCATION:\nJohn was a graduate of Maple High School\, before going on to serve his country. \nHISTORY:\nOn August 28\, 1969\, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in Albany\, New York and served during the Vietnam War. He served as a special radio operator with the Electronic Warfare Company\, 2nd Radio Battalion\, where he received extensive training\, including a 47-week Burmese Language Course\, and a 20-week Radio Communication Technology Course. John was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on August 27\, 1973. For his honorable service\, John received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. \nPERSONAL:\nOn October 8\, 1983\, John married his wife\, Linda (Jewett) at the Castleton Fire House. Together they had three loving children: Beth\, Jason and Melanie; grandchildren: Justin\, Jordan\, Abby\, Alexa and Aliana; and great-grandchild Caynon. He resided in Nassau\, New York with his loving family. \nWORK EXPERIENCE:\nJohn was employed by GE Plastics in Selkirk for 40 years before he retired. \nCOMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nJohn was a big family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren. In his free time\, he loved to go fishing\, camping and hunting\, and his favorite getaway at the Adirondack Gateway RV Resort. John also taught bow hunting and rifle courses as a hunting education and safety instructor.
