DESCRIPTION:  \nJOSEPH W. STYNO\n1925-2005 \nFAMILY HISTORY:\nJoseph W. Styno was born on May 25\, 1925 in Troy\, New York to the late Joseph Styno and Rose Styno Pietrafesa. He was the brother of Doris Dayton\, and the late Anthony Styno and Mary Sontheimer. \nEDUCATION:\nJoseph graduated from Troy High School in 1943\, and later went on to graduate from Siena College in 1950. \nHISTORY:\nJoseph enlisted in the United States Army on October 25\, 1943 in Albany\, New York. He served with the 116th Field Artillery Battalion\, which was stationed in the Philippines. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal\, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal\, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon\, and a Bronze Service Arrowhead. Joseph was honorably discharged on February 20\, 1946. \nPERSONAL:\nOn October 26\, 1952\, Joseph married his wife\, the late Adeline Ricci Styno\, at St. Mary’s Church in Troy\, New York. Together they had two children; Sandra Ryan and Kathleen Vale; and two grandchildren; Stephanie and Heather Vale. Joseph is also survived by several nieces and nephews. \nWORK EXPERIENCE:\nJoseph worked as a supervisor in the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance\, specializing in partnership tax law. In 1995\, at the age of 70 years old\, he retired. \nCOMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nJoseph enjoyed bowling and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Washington Redskins. He was a proud communicant of Sacred Heart Church and served as a Eucharistic minister at the former Saint Francis de Sales parish in Troy\, NY. Joseph loved spending his time with his granddaughters.
