DESCRIPTION:Honoring Paul T. Rustin\, Theodore H. Rustin & Joseph C. Rustin\, held in the Legislative Chambers \nPAUL THEODORE RUSTIN\, 1936-2016\n FAMILY HISTORY:\nPaul Theodore Rustin was born on March 22\, 1936 in Glens Falls\, New York to the late Wilbur Rustin and Ellen Hale Rustin.  Paul was the brother of Phyllis\, Ellen\, Irvin\, Thomas and John.  The siblings that predeceased him were\, Rhoda\, Alice\, Joseph\, Theodore\, David and Carlese. \nEDUCATION:\nPaul attended Troy Schools. \n HISTORY:\nPaul enlisted in the United States Navy on April 6\, 1954.  He served aboard the USS Des Moines (CA- 134) and was the recipient of the Navy Occupation Medal.  Paul was honorable discharged on January 25\, 1957. \n PERSONAL:\nPaul married his wife\, Barbara in Troy\, New York.  He is survived by his sons; Wayne\, Paul\, Jr. and Doug; and two step-children; Karen and Jeff.  Paul is also survived by his grandchildren; Wayne and Dillon; his step-grandchildren; Lavinia and Kiera; and one great-granddaughter. \n WORK EXPERIENCE:\nPaul was employed in the Auto Body Industry. \n COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nPaul enjoyed hunting\, bowling\, camping and horseshoes. \nTHEODORE HALE RUSTIN\, SR.\, 1940-2016\n FAMILY HISTORY:\nTheodore Hale Rustin\, Sr. was born on October 12\, 1940 in Glens Falls\, New York to the late Wilbur Rustin and Ellen Hale Rustin.  Ted was the brother of Irvin\, Thomas\, John\, Ellen\, Phyllis and the late Paul.  Ted was predeceased by his siblings; Rhoda\, Alice\, Joseph\, Carlese and David. \nEDUCATION:\nTed attended Troy Schools. \n HISTORY:\nTed enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves on December 12\, 1957.  He attended basic training at the Great Lakes Navy Center in Illinois and upon graduation he was assigned to shore duty at the Key West Florida Naval Station.  On December 16\, 1958\, Ted entered into Active Duty with the Navy.  On May 19\, 1960\, he reported to Mayport\, Florida\, where he was assigned to the USS Saratoga CVA -60 to O.I. Division as a Radarman.  While serving aboard the USS Saratoga CVA -60\, Ted participated in Operation Sword Thrust in coordination with our NATO Allies.  Ted was honorably discharged on November 9\, 1960. \n PERSONAL:\nOn July 11\, 1959\, Ted married his wife of fifty-six years\, Ruth Bowen Rustin.  Ted was the proud father of Ruth Ellen\, Terry and Theodore\, Jr.  Ted is also survived by his grandchildren\, Amy\, Ryan and Gwendolyn; one great granddaughter\, Alyssa; and his best friend\, Wallace A. Coffman. \n WORK EXPERIENCE:\nTed was employed with Behr Manning in Watervliet\, New York and later retired from his own heavy equipment business. \n COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nTed was a legacy life member of the USS Saratoga Association. \nTed’s favorite pastime was rebuilding and painting antique\, classic\, and street rod cars.  He was the proud recipient of many trophies at car shows.  Ted loved his 1934 Ford 5 Window Coupe\, which he restored and inscribed “Built by Henry and Ted” under the hood. \nJOSEPH CHARLES RUSTIN\, SR.\, 1937-2015\n FAMILY HISTORY:\nJoseph Charles Rustin\, Sr. was born on May 29\, 1937 in Glens Falls\, New York to the late Wilbur Rustin and Ellen Hale Rustin.  Joseph was the brother of Phyllis Angell\, Ellen Hughes\, Irvin Rustin\, Thomas Rustin\, Paul Rustin\, Theodore Rustin\, John Rustin and the late Rhoda Bruce\, Alice Lebentritt\, David Rustin and Carlese Rustin. \nEDUCATION:\nJoseph attended Troy High School. \n HISTORY:\nJoseph enlisted in the United States Navy on November 10\, 1954 in Albany\, New York.  While serving in the Navy\, Joseph was an Armament Mechanic.  He was honorably discharged on May 22\, 1958. \n PERSONAL:\nJoseph was married for fifty-five years to his wife\, Martha Moore Howd Rustin.  In addition to his wife\, Joseph is survived by his children; Maryellen (Russell)\, Joseph\, Jr.\, David\, Karen and Eric\, and his five grandchildren; Kjelene\, Evan\, Adam\, Dante and Timothy. \n WORK EXPERIENCE:\nAfter Joseph’s honorable discharge from the Navy\, he began working at Leaseway of Eastern\, New York.  He then went on to work at Leo’s Overhead Doors and later worked at LeRoy Holding\, where he retired. \n COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES/ORGANIZATIONS:\nJoseph was a member of the American Legion of Cohoes and the VFW of Waterford. \nJoseph was an avid card player and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. \n
