Holly Schultz of Schodack Recognized by Legislature

The Rensselaer County Legislature recognized Holly Schultz of Schodack at the April 8 legislative meeting for receiving the 2007 Chief’s Award from the Schodack Valley Fire Chief, Legislators Alex Shannon and Martin Reid announced.

Holly joined the Schodack Valley Fire Department at the age of 16. Prior to becoming a member, she volunteered to work pizza nights, fund drives, Christmas parties for children, golf tournament and fire prevention events in local schools.

“Holly is an outstanding young person, who has already given a great deal to her community through her hard work and dedication. We commend her on receiving this important honor,” said Shannon.

Holly has undergone a considerable amount of training, including the 78-hour Firefighter I Certification Class. She also recently passed the state test certifying her as a First Responder.

She currently attends Sage Colleges of Albany and will graduate in spring, 2009 with a Physical Education Teaching Degree, and plans to seek a master’s degree in Health Education.

“Holly is an example of the many outstanding young people we have here in Rensselaer County. We commend her and her family on this important recognition and wish her well for the future.
