PRESS RELEASE Legislature Recognizes Piazza for Aid to Humane Society The Rensselaer County Legislature recognized Mike Piazza of Troy at the April 8 legislative meeting for his work to aid the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society animal shelter. Piazza has collected recyclable cans and bottles in recent months at the County Office Building, and by redeeming the bottles and cans, has raised more than $200 for the animal shelter. The collection project is still going on, and more donations are expected. A client of the Rensselaer County Association for Retarded Citizens, Piazza has worked part-time with the county Environmental Management Council, an office of the Legislature, for one decade. He helps gather recyclable materials in county government facilities to benefit the environment and reduce the cost to taxpayers for trash disposal. “Mike is a great part of the legislative family. He has put a lot of effort in collecting donations for the Humane Society, and we want to recognize him for his hard work and compassion,” said Chairman of the Legislature Neil J. Kelleher.
