PRESS RELEASE Rensselaer County Legislature Meets Tonight The Rensselaer County Legislature will meet tonight, with legislators slated to consider a local law to provide a tax exemption to veterans of the Cold War, along with resolutions urging a state investigation of possible gas gouging and a tax break for purchase of digital televisions. State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno is also expected to be on hand at the meeting at 5:30 p.m. to receive a copy of a resolution memorializing the passing of his wife Bobbie. Other resolutions to be considered include a resolution urging state officials to adopt a law to outlaw text messaging while driving, reduction of locomotive emissions, authorizing purchase of a new veterans van, funding for upkeep of snowmobile trails and purchase of materials for repair and improvement of county roads. A resolution to renew a request for a state review of State Route 43 in West Stephentown will now be considered at the May legislative meeting. The meeting begins with public presentations at 5:30 p.m. with the regular portion of the meeting beginning following the presentations.
