PRESS RELEASE Legislature Commends Maple Hill Girls’ Basketball Team The Rensselaer County Legislature commended the Maple Hill Varsity Girls’ Basketball team at the April 8 legislative meeting for their championship season, Legislators Alex Shannon and Martin Reid announced. The Wildcats finished the season with a record of 16-0 in the Patroon Conference league record and an overall record of 22 wins and 2 losses on their way to capturing the 2008 Section II Class C Championship. “This is a tremendous accomplishment by the Wildcats and shows a great level of talent and dedication by the players. The hard work and commitment by the team made this truly a season to remember,” said Shannon The team was coached by Head Coach Mark Bubniak, assistant coaches Dave Austin, Bryan Dailey, Seth Hendrick and Mike Racz. Team members include Meeghan Arno, Molly Austin, Alicia Biernik, Jessica Dailey, Kristen DerGurahian, Alyssa Filkins, Samantha Hendrick, Katelin Kleinhans, Megan Porpeglia, Anna Racz, Stephanie Racz, Katie Roth, Ashley Szary and Sarah Timmons. Members of the team were on hand at the April 8 legislative meeting to receive copies of a resolution adopted to recognize the team’s championship season. The resolution was approved by Legislators Shannon and Reid. “Rensselaer County has many great young people with bright futures, and the Wildcats are a great group of student-athletes who we know will go far in life. We congratulate the team, the school and the supporters of the team on this great accomplishment,” said Reid.
