County Electronics Recycling Day Scheduled

Through a partnership between eLot Electronics Recycling and the Rensselaer County Legislature’s Environmental Management Council, an electronics recycling day will be held for county residents on March 29, Legislators Alex Shannon and Laura Bauer announced.

The electronics recycling day for county residents will be held March 29 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the upper parking lot of the County Office Building, 1600 7th Avenue, downtown Troy.

The partnership with eLot allows the county to offer the electronics recycling service to county residents at no charge to county taxpayers.

“This is an environmentally safe and convenient way for Rensselaer County residents to recycle their electronic goods. We are happy to be able to bring this service to county residents thanks to a partnership with eLot,” said Shannon, who serves as chairman of the Legislature’s Environmental Committee.

“Our mission is to help you recycle electronic equipment from your work and home through innovative eLot waste management and recycling services. We believe in minimizing the surging electronic waste issue in the United States and making for a better tomorrow by doing what we can to protect our environment today,” said Peter Bindelglass of eLot.

The electronics suitable for recycling include computers, copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines, televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators and various household appliances. There is an additional charge for television wood console paneling. The destruction and erasure of data is compliant with state and federal standards.

County residents seeking to participate in the electronics recycling day are asked to provide proof of residency to allow participation.

“We expect there will be considerable interest and participation by county residents in the electronics recycling program. This is a good program and we commend the EMC and eLot for working together to put this on,” added Bauer, who serves as a member of the Environmental Committee.

eLot Electronics Recycling is a full-service e-cycling company focused on the recycling, de-manufacturing and selling of refurbished computers and electronics throughout the United States.
