Mirch Shocked Dunne is Trying to Restrict Free Speech

Majority Leader of the Rensselaer County Legislature Robert Mirch said he is shocked by a recent e-mail by Troy Councilman Bill Dunne in which Dunne attempts to censor Mirch from speaking out on the controversial exhibit portraying the assassination of the president.

In an e-mail sent Thursday, March 13, Dunne asks for Troy Mayor Harry Tutunjian to instruct city officials, including Mirch, who serves as Troy Commissioner of Public Works, to “cease comment on the subject”.

“Baghdad Bill may want to give aid and comfort to those who support killing our president, but I am going to continue to do what is right and oppose these supporters of terrorism,” said Mirch.

“It is amazing that in just a few months, Councilman Dunne has gone from seeking to punish city employees to trying to censor them and restrict their First Amendment rights. Bill Dunne wants to remove free speech rights from anyone who disagrees with his radical agenda,” added Mirch.

Mirch said Dunne’s aid for the Sanctuary’s terror exhibit demonstrates leaders of the county Democratic Party are working with supporters of the terror-friendly Sanctuary for Independent Media. A number of prominent Democrat supporters, including a former Democrat candidate for County Legislature, are active with the Sanctuary.

“It is clear from Councilman Dunne’s comments that the Democratic Party is working very closely with the Sanctuary and supporters of this terrorist-friendly exhibit. This is the Bill Dunne liberal crowd staging this exhibit depicting the assassination of the president, and Councilman Dunne is now just making sure everyone knows he supports the supporters of terrorism,” said Mirch.

“Rensselaer County Democrats couldn’t find many people from Troy to protest last night, so they imported radicals from throughout the region. It is stunning that they would work hand in hand with this anti-American element,” said Mirch.

The censor e-mail by Dunne follows his e-mail of three months ago in which he seeks to “punish” city employees by reducing their raises.

“Bill Dunne obviously has some problems with anger management and e-mail. He should think twice before hitting the ‘send’ button,” said Mirch.
