PRESS RELEASE Legislature to Clean-up Around County Office Building Apr. 26 Annual Tree-Plantings Also Scheduled to Observe Earth Day Members of the Rensselaer County Legislature will be sponsoring a clean-up of the area around the County Office Building in downtown Troy on Saturday, April 26 as part of the Earth Day celebrations in Troy and throughout the county. Members of the public are also welcome to join legislators and county employees in the clean-up effort. The clean-up will start at 9 a.m. and participants are asked to meet in the upper parking lot. “We are excited to be taking part once again in the observance of Earth Day and looking forward to sprucing up the area around the County Office Building,” said Legislator Laura Bauer, a member of the Legislature’s Environmental Committee. The clean-up follows a clean-up on April 19 sponsored by the County Legislature and the county Environmental Management Council at the Papscanee Island Nature Preserve. The Legislature and the EMC also teamed up for an electronics recycling day in late March, with the first-ever event drawing a big turnout. The Legislature and EMC will also be conducting tree-plantings at various locations starting Thursday and continuing into next week along with the community clean-ups. “Rensselaer County is a beautiful part of upstate New York and we are happy to do our part for the environment and for Earth Day,” said Legislator Alex Shannon.
