PRESS RELEASE Legislature Mourns Passing of Barbara Bruno Members of the majority of the Rensselaer County Legislature tonight mourned the passing of Barbara Bruno, wife of State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. Legislators remembered Mrs. Bruno as a regular presence at political events and a particularly dedicated advocate for community organizations and organizations to benefit children, seniors, educational efforts and those less fortunate. “Bobbi Bruno was a loyal wife who was by her husband’s side as he rose to a position of great prominence in New York State. She was the matriarch of a family that has done so much for so many in Rensselaer County,” said Chairman of the Legislature Neil J. Kelleher. “We mourn the passing of Mrs. Bruno and she and her family and many friends have our condolences and prayers. She touched a great many lives during her life, and she will be remembered fondly,” added Majority Leader Robert Mirch. “You could always count on the Bruno family, particularly Mrs. Bruno, to be there for someone in need. She was very generous and compassionate towards so many causes and individuals in Brunswick and in Rensselaer County,” said Vice Chairman of Legislature Thomas Walsh Sr., who represents Brunswick in the County Legislature. “She was a class act, but also a very down to earth and friendly person. She made an effort to be a good neighbor and a good citizen and she will be missed by so many,” said Legislator Ken Herrington, who also represents Brunswick in the County Legislature.
