PRESS RELEASE New 2008 County Directory Also Available On-Line The new 2008 version of the popular Rensselaer County Officials and Services Directory is also conveniently available on-line from the website of the County Legislature, Chairman of the Legislature Neil J. Kelleher announced. The popular Officials and Services Directory includes information about federal, state and local governments, and information on how to contact elected officials, community organizations and civic groups. Annually, the Legislature distributes several thousand copies of the Directory. Those wishing to download a copy of the Officials and Services Directory are invited to visit the legislative website at www.rensselaercounty.org. On the left side of the opening page, click on “2008 Directory” and print off a copy. “This is a convenient and easy way for Rensselaer County residents to get a copy of an excellent source of information about the institutions and organizations that serve the people of our great county,” said Kelleher. Along with listings and contact information for elected officials on the national, state, county and local levels, the updated 2008 County Directory includes information on fire and ambulance companies, libraries, post offices and other institutions of public interest. Information on colleges, school districts and parochial schools serving the county are provided. Listing for arts, youth, recreation and community organizations are also included. For those who do not wish to print off a copy of the Directory on-line, simply call the legislative majority office at 270-2880 or e-mail the majority office via the official website of the County Legislature at www.rensselaercounty.org. The County Directory is compiled by staff in the legislative Majority office. The effort to compile the information takes place from fall through the spring, and is finalized after village elections are completed in March. The work by the staff helps significantly reduce the cost of printing the Officials and Services Directory. “Making the Directory available on-line is a good way to get the Directory to the people of the county. We have already had a great deal of interest from residents in the 2008 Directory,” said Legislator Martin Reid, chairman of the Legislature’s Local Government Committee.
