PRESS RELEASE New 2008 Officials and Services Directory Now Available The 2008 version of the popular Rensselaer County Officials and Services Directory is now available from the County Legislature, Chairman of the Legislature Neil J. Kelleher announced today. The County Officials and Services Directory includes useful information about federal, state and local government offices serving the county, contact information for elected officials, community organizations and civic groups. Annually, approximately 4,000 copies of the directory, which is viewed as the best and most comprehensive guide to the county. “For anyone who wants to learn more about Rensselaer County, our Officials and Services Directory is a great place to start. We encourage interested residents to contact the legislative offices for a copy,” said Kelleher. The County Directory is available to county residents and county businesses free of charge, Kelleher said. Those interested can obtain a copy of the Directory by contacting the majority of the County Legislature. To obtain a copy of the Officials and Services Directory, write: Rensselaer County Legislature Majority Office, County Government Center, 1600 7th Avenue, Troy, NY 12180, call 270-2880 or e-mail the majority office via the official website of the County Legislature at www.rensselaercounty.org. Along with listings and contact information for elected officials on the national, state, county and local levels, the 2008 County Directory includes information on fire and ambulance companies, libraries, post offices and other public institutions. Information on colleges, school districts and parochial schools serving the county are provided. Listings for arts, youth, recreation and community organizations are also included. The County Directory is compiled by staff in the legislative Majority office. The effort to compile the information takes place from fall through the spring, and is finalized after village elections are completed. “Every year, there is considerable interest for residents about the Officials and Services Directory. We expect there will once again be considerable interest in the new Directory,” said Legislator Martin Reid, chairman of the Legislature’s Local Government Committee.
