Mark Fleming is a lifelong resident of Troy, as are his parents, Mary and the late John C. Fleming. He is the father of two college students, Eric and Ethan. Mark has been a government servant in many capacities, serving the City of Troy, Rensselaer County, the Troy City School District, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the New York State Office of General Services. In 2006, he retired as a Captain from the Troy Fire Department after 29 years of dedicated service. During Mark’s career he has had the privilege and opportunity to work with practically every bureau and department in Troy and Rensselaer County. Mark’s dedication to the public sector was greatly influenced by his father’s commitment to the City of Troy. Deeply rooted in and dedicated to his community, Mark has been involved in several youth organizations, church and civic groups, and labor unions. During the current term, Mark has set forth his best effort as a member of the Aging, Agriculture, and the Planning and Public Works Committee. A hands on legislator, Fleming vows to serve as a financial watchdog and require the county government to act in a fiscally conscious manner through greater levels of accountability, efficiency and transparency. “I am honored to be chosen to represent the people of Troy on the Rensselaer County Legislature,” says Fleming. “I will serve with enthusiasm to promote and maintain a positive business environment in the county. A vibrant business community creates the tax base necessary to provide the services all of our residents deserve. |
